Creating the Wedding of Your Dreams: 2023 Tips & Trends
Updated: Feb 23
Congratulations on your engagement! We know planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but the beauty is that the possibilities are endless. We're excited to share some of our top tips to help you create the wedding of your dreams.
First and foremost, let's talk about the venue. When it comes to choosing the perfect location, there are a few things to consider. For example:
Do you prefer local or destination?
If you choose destination, will that impact the ability for certain guests to attend? If so, you may want to consider how important it is for you for those specific guests to celebrate with you.
Regardless of if you choose local or destination, consider where your guests be traveling from. If most of your guests will be driving over an hour or perhaps flying in, be sure to recommend lodging in the area. We also recommend reaching out to the places you choose to see if they offer group rates or room blocking for special occasions.
5 of our favorite venues for 2023 include:
Planterra Conservatory in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan
The Resort at Paws Up in Greenough, Montana
The Ice House in Phoenix, Arizona
Malibu Rocky Oaks in Malibu, California
and of course, our very own Graystone Valley just north of Branson, MIssouri
Now let's talk about the wedding gown. This year, we're seeing a lot of off-the-shoulder and illusion necklines, as well as sleek and modern silhouettes. If you're looking for something unique, consider a non-traditional color such as blush or even black. For the groom, a classic black tuxedo or a navy blue suit are always in style. We recommend checking out online retailers like BHLDN and The Black Tux for beautiful and affordable options. ProTip: Do NOT overlook your local boutiques. We often hear brides overjoyed by the incredible selection they experienced at locations they "almost didn't try".
When it comes to floral arrangements, the trend for 2023 is all about going big and bold. Think cascading bouquets, large statement centerpieces, and lots of greenery. As with all trends, not every feels connected to dramatic floral arrangements. The most important aspect of your planning process is to remain true to you.
Food and beverage is another important aspect of any wedding. This year, we're seeing a lot of interactive food stations, like build-your-own taco bars or charcuterie boards. For drinks, signature cocktails and mocktails are always a hit. When the budget allows, we always suggest hiring a professional. It will save you a LOT of stress.
Last but not least, entertainment. DJs are a great option. Couples often lean into this option because they know they can set the playlist and guarantee the quality of the songs. However, don't overlook hiring a live band with quality reviews that can play a variety of genres to keep your guests dancing all night long. Live performances can often provide a more memorable and intamate experience for everyone.
Remember to enjoy the planning process and don't forget to take some time for yourself amidst the chaos. Remember, you're creating the wedding of your dreams!
