The Unseen Impact of Your DJ: How They Can Make or Break Your Wedding Day

You're ready to choose your DJ, now what?

Let's start by addressing how a DJ contributes to your day and go from there.

As much as we love those cheesy wedding classics, let's face it - the music can make or break the mood of your reception. That's where your DJ comes in, curating a playlist that sets the perfect vibe for each moment. We're not saying they're miracle workers, but they're pretty close.

But it's not just about the music - your DJ is also responsible for the flow of the evening, making sure everything runs smoothly, and on time, and maintaining a positive atmosphere even if things don't go as planned. "When it comes to the timeline, try having your first dance before dinner right after your grand entrance; this way, all your guests can watch your special dance." Suggests Dylan Verhoff, co-owner of Night Moves Entertainment, a well-known and loved DJ service of Missouri. He went on to say, "We like to walk through the agenda with our couples and send it to the vendors, so they have an idea of our timeline and the songs we will be playing. We would hate for the photographer to miss one of your special moments out of lack of communication."

And let's not forget about the lighting. Sure, you could just flip on the overhead lights and call it a day, but why settle for ordinary when your DJ can transform your reception into a fairytale wonderland? Dylan Verhoff says, "Lighting can dramatically impact your wedding." In the era of selfies and passing your phone off to friends and family for photos, I believe we can all agree to that! They went on to say, "Whether it's uplighting around the room or lights for the dance floor. We try to stay clear of lights with lasers; the last thing you want is to have pictures with a little green dot on your face. Instead, go with lights that give a washed effect. Another pro tip is to ensure your DJ won’t turn on the lights until after your formalities; that way, you don’t have colors all over your dress in the pictures."

When we asked about budget and planning suggestions, Dyan Verhoff said, "The budget is essential to planning a wedding, but don’t get too caught up in finding the cheapest deal; you might regret your decision. Instead, think about the vision of your wedding and what’s most important to you, decide your top three priorities, and focus your money on that area."

We know that choosing the right vendors can be overwhelming, but we've got your back. We work with the best vendors who share our values and have a proven track record of providing exceptional service. We want you to feel like you're part of our family, and we promise to do everything in our power to make sure your day is nothing short of magical.

So, couples, take a deep breath and let us guide you through this exciting time. We're here to make you laugh, cry, and dance the night away. Trust us, with the right DJ, the only thing you'll need to worry about is your dance moves.

- Love,
